What was your time at university like?

My time at University was like an experience of a lifetime. It was fun, intriguing and challenging all at the same time. I would not change it for anything in the world.

What was the most memorable part of your university experience?

The fresher’s week was very memorable. It is an amazing opportunity to meet new people from all around the world and make new and lifelong friends.

What skills did you gain from your degree which have been particularly helpful in your career?

Organisational, communication and time management skills are the skills that helped me the most in securing an amazing graduate opportunity.

What has your career journey been like since graduating?

I am an analyst working in the pricing team for a specialist insurer Rothesay Life. During my time at university, I also took a placement year and worked at Aon in their pension’s consultancy department.

What is your current job role and what does a typical day look like?

I am an analyst working in the pricing team for a specialist insurer Rothesay Life. We usually insure pension schemes, so day to day I work with senior colleagues in helping to calculate the premiums to be charged to insure and secure the pension benefits of the members.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Working with people that I can learn a lot from.

How did your university experience and degree help you to secure your job/jobs?

The modules that I studied in my degree helped me prepare in developing other skills apart from academic knowledge such as technical skills including excel which helped me gain valuable work experience. Furthermore, due the choice of taking a placement year, it further helped me develop skills such as actuarial, communication and team work that immensely helped me in landing my graduate role.

What advice would you give students who are thinking of studying here?

Aim high. The sky should not be your limit.
