George Louca

Course: BSc Accounting and Finance

What were you doing before you came to study at City?

I was studying Medicine at Glasgow University when I decided to switch my degree and study Accounting and Finance.

Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?

Initially, the reason City, University of London appealed to me was its location: it is at the doorstep of both the financial services sector and the technology sector. London is a great place to engage with future employers. My course is also very rigorous, and the modules offered are relevant for the workplace.

What is your favourite thing about studying at City?

The Careers Service do a fantastic job in preparing students for the future work, helping with applications for placements, CVs and interview preparation.

What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?

What I love most about City is all the different opportunities available. I am Captain of the Table Tennis Team. This is a great way to meet new people and destress from work. I also work part-time as a Marketing Student Ambassador, assisting at Open Days and Clearing, Clearing Days and I greatly appreciate the personal development I have gained from these roles. I am also a Course Representative, which is a great way to get to know classmates.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I plan to complete my Accounting Qualification and qualify as a Chartered Accountant.
