Student conference shines a light on technology and finance

Europe’s biggest student-led Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) conference is addressed by the Lord Mayor of London and the Master of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers

The M&A and Private Equity (PE) Student Society at Cass Business School recently held their 2019 conference at the Business School’s campus at Bunhill Row.

The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Peter Estlin, delivered the keynote address and the Master of the Worshipful Company of International Bankers, Mark Sismey-Durrant, also delivered an address.

The theme for the conference – the biggest student-led M&A event in Europe – was technology and finance and featured a panel discussion with senior bankers about the public equities market in the current context of growth-stage and tech Initial Public Offerings (IPOs).

The Conference was organised by MBA student and Society President Khawaja Hassan and Cass alumnus Omiros Sarikas from the Worshipful Company of International Bankers.

L-R: Professor Scott Moeller, Alderman Peter Estlin, Mr Mark Sismey-Durrant and Professor Paolo Volpin.

Professor Paolo Volpin, Interim Dean of Cass Business School, said he was delighted to attend the conference.

“This was a wonderful event, ably organised by Khawaja, Omiros and their colleagues from the M&A and PE Society.  It demonstrated our strong ties to the City of London and provided an excellent opportunity for our students to learn directly from leading figures on the financial stage.”
