The Contrarian Prize: Brexit and Beyond

Cass welcomes leading economist Professor Patrick Minford for lively topical debate

by City Press Office (General enquiries)

Cass Business School was pleased to host The Contrarian Prize: Brexit and Beyond on Wednesday 5th December 2018.

The winner of the Contrarian Prize 2018, leading economist Professor Patrick Minford, outlined his vision of what a deal between the EU and the UK should encompass and explained why he has been a leading proponent of leaving the EU and moving to free trade for decades. Professor Minford also took part in a lively debate, chaired by Prize founder, Ali Miraj, in which all sides of the Brexit debate were discussed with the audience.

The Contrarian Prize seeks to recognise individuals in British public life who demonstrate independence, courage and sacrifice. It aims to shine a light on those who have made a meaningful contribution to the public debate through the ideas that they have introduced or the stand they have taken.

Professor Minford also signed copies of his book Should Britain leave the EU? An economic analysis of a troubled relationship.

The event was hosted by Cass Business School as part of a series of the Contrarian Prize Lecture events.  Contrarian Prize events have different hosts, topics and speakers and allow an intellectual forum for respectful and open discourse and debate on current issues.
