New Associate Dean for Cass MBA programmes announced

Professor Steve Thomas will lead MBA programmes at Cass

Cass Business School has announced Professor Steve Thomas as its new Associate Dean, MBA programmes. Professor Thomas will replace Dr Sionade Robinson, who is currently on sabbatical.

Professor Thomas has taught at Cass since 2006 and currently teaches core introductory finance for the EMBA, Modular EMBA, and Dubai EMBA programmes, together with the Derivatives and Hedging elective for the Full-time MBA and Investment Strategy for the Dubai EMBA. He has a strong research and industry background and his research has won numerous awards and was ranked 11th best in Europe in 2006 by the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting.

He said he was delighted to be joining the leadership team at Cass.

I’m looking forward to working with staff, students and alumni from across the School to lead and develop MBA programmes at Cass.”

Professor Marianne Lewis, Dean, Cass Business School, welcomed Professor Thomas to his new role.

Professor Lewis also thanked Dr Sionade Robinson for her leadership and support of the MBA programme over the past five years.

About Professor Steve Thomas

Prior to joining Cass Professor Thomas was Professor of Finance at the Universities of Wales and Southampton and a Visiting Professor at the International Capital Markets’ Centre at the University of Reading, and at Queen’s University, Canada.

He has been Houblon-Norman Fellow at the Bank of England and was previously a Director for the Bear Stearns’ Global Alpha macro hedge fund, and Investment Strategist and Director at Firecrest Hambro, a private wealth boutique.  In 2009 he cofounded Solent Systematic Investment Strategies which researches and licenses quantitative investment strategies to fund managers.

Professor Thomas is an examiner for the CFA UK Investment Management Certificate, and co-author of its Official Training Manual, now in its 15th edition.
