Cass appoints new Deputy Dean

 Cass Business School appoints Professor Jo Silvester as Deputy Dean

Prof. Jo Silvester Jo Silvester, Professor of Psychology and member of the Faculty of Management, has been appointed as Deputy Dean at Cass Business School.

As a leading global business school, the Cass strategy seeks to sustain excellence within and across its three hubs – Education, Knowledge and Community. Professor Silvester’s role will focus is on Cass Education, fuelling programme innovation.

Professor Silvester is an organisational psychologist who specialises in the assessment and development of leaders in public, private and political organisations. Her primary research interest involves the application of research and practice from organisational psychology to political work.

She graduated with PhD from Leeds University and has held lectureships at the University of Leeds, and University of Wales Swansea, and became Professor of Occupational Psychology at Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2002.

I am delighted to announce Professor Jo Silvester as Cass’s new Deputy Dean. Jo’s leadership style blends collaboration and discipline with a high and positive energy. Her role will take on a greater focus on education; developing and integrating powerful themes across the school including academic excellence, career progression and the academic experience. She brings with her a wealth of experience from within Cass which is further enhanced by her work across varied disciplines and universities.

Professor Silvester said, “I am both honoured and delighted to be taking on this role. As someone who is passionate about education and research, I now have an opportunity to put into practice what I believe – and in an institution of which I am immensely proud.”

Professor Lewis went on to thank Professor Cliff Oswick, incumbent Deputy Dean:

“I extend my deepest thanks to Professor Oswick for all of his work at the School. Cliff joined Cass in 2011 and since then, he has helped to steer the School to a position of global leadership. His legacy is evident in Cass’ vibrant and collegial culture renowned for world-class research and academic programmes.”

Professor Jo Silvester will take up her position as Deputy Dean in January 2016.
