He has received a Gold Medal from President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, at an international medal presentation ceremony in Dublin.
The awards are the world’s largest academic awards programme, recognising excellent research and original work across the sciences, humanities, business and creative arts. This year the awards received 5,117 submissions from undergraduates in 255 universities across 39 countries.
Thomas received a First Class Honours degree in Banking and International Finance, finishing among the top 10 students overall. Since graduation, he has been working at Liberum Capital in London on its 12-month Graduate Scheme.
He received his Business Category award alongside Carolina Are who graduated from City University with a BA Journalism in 2014.
Louise Hodgson, Programme Director of The Undergraduate Awards said: “With two out of 25 winners, City was one of the outstanding universities in our awards programme this year. Thomas and Carolina have done extraordinarily well to receive this medal, which places them internationally as leading graduates in their fields.”
