Cass MSc student to represent Scotland at Touch Football World Cup
MSc student selected to play for Scotland in the Touch Football World Cup 2015 in Australia
Next April a Cass MSc student will be having a very different Easter break to the rest of his course mates.
Struan Todd, who studies on the Insurance & Risk Management MSc, will be travelling to Australia to represent Scotland at the Touch Football World Cup 2015
Held at Coff's Harbour, between Brisbane and Sydney, the competition will bring together 84 teams from 21 different countries, making it the second largest World Cup in touch history.
Also known as touch rugby, the sport is most commonly played in Australia and New Zealand but is rapidly gaining popularity across Europe.
The last World Cup was held in Scotland and this year's Scottish team are hoping to challenge the 2015 host nation, who are the reigning champions.
Struan started playing the sport at 18 and will be playing on the 16 strong Mixed Side squad.
Having already represented Scotland at the European Championships this summer he is looking forward to moving up to the global level next year.
"It's an honour and a privilege to be representing Scotland at the Touch Football World Cup in Australia next year" said Struan, "I've put in a lot of hard work juggling training sessions in Edinburgh whilst undertaking studies of the MSc in Insurance and Risk Management at CASS and working full time for Howden as an Account Handler. I'm really looking forward to the experience and taking on the top sides from all around the world."
In preparation for the games next year the Scottish team are currently looking for sponsorship.
