Cass hosts first networking event for Women in Insurance
Cass stages inaugural event of the Independent Women in Insurance Network
Leading figures from the UK insurance industry joined up at Cass Business School for the inaugural Independent Women in Insurance Network (iWIN) event.
With attendance limited to 80 participants, the event was over-subscribed, as guests packed out the School's auditorium as iWin's first ever breakfast forum got underway.
Launched in June by the Worshipful Company of Insurers, iWIN aims to create a forum for networking, mentoring and targeted learning and development for women in insurance.
It also pledges to provide a coherent voice for the interests of all women within the industry and support the growing momentum of the diversity agenda across.
Cass's own Visiting Honorary Professor Julia Hobsbawm was the guest speaker at the breakfast and gave the keynote lecture on effective networking.
Paula Jarzabkowski, Professor in Strategic Management at Cass Business School, said:
"Women's careers often suffer because they are unaware of or unable to take part in critical professional networks. At Cass, we are delighted to be part of this initiative to support City women in their career development.
Barbara Merry, iWIN Steering Committee Chair said: "It is excellent that the WCI has acknowledged the need for a forum targeted at senior and aspiring women in our industry. Through the establishment of iWIN, they are embracing the momentum building in our industry around diversity."
