Cass hosts the second R in Insurance Conference, attracting a top line-up of international speakers and delegates
Insurance and actuarial science experts joined up at Cass Business School, where the R in Insurance conference got underway for the second year running.
The one day event attracted more than 100 practitioners and academics from across Europe and as far as the US and Argentina, as speakers and delegates discussed the wide ranging applications of R, the statistical programming language, in insurance and actuarial science.
Among the topics covered were reserving, pricing, loss modelling and the use of R in a production environment.

In the opening plenary, Montserrat Guillen of the University of Barcelona's Riskcenter and Leo Guelman of Royal Bank of Canada discussed the rise of uplift models in insurance marketing.
The following conference sessions were made up of presentations followed by a panel discussion on the role of R in the interaction between practitioners and academics.
Professor Arthur Charpentier of the Université du Québec à Montréal gave the closing plenary on Bayesian modelling with R.
The event concluded with a networking dinner in the historic Ironmongers Hall in the City of London.
The conference was co-organised by Cass's Dr Andreas Tsanakas and Markus Gesmann of Lloyd's.
