Cass graduate takes gold in prestigious wine and spirit competition
Spirit founded by Cass graduate Oscar de Sequeira Nazareth, beat thousands of entries from 90 countries
Cass alumnus, Oscar de Sequeira Nazareth, has won the prestigious IWSC Gold Outstanding medal at the 2014 International Wine and Spirit Competition.
The competition, the oldest and most prestigious of its kind, recognises the most outstanding international wines and spirits.
Oscar graduated from Cass in 2004 with a BSc in Investment and Financial Risk Management.
Judges celebrated his Goan produced spirit, Licor Armada, with the competition's highest honour.
As well as beating thousands of other international competitors, Licor Armada is the first Indian made product ever to win the award.
Commenting on the award, Oscar said: "Despite being launched under 18 months ago, Armada has already conquered the world's most prestigious spirits medal despite competition from all the major global players.
Only two other liqueurs received the Gold Outstanding accolade, after consideration by an international panel of 300 experts.
Before moving to India to set up his business, Oscar was part of Marsh & McLennan's graduate programme and worked in Equity Derivatives Trading at Deutsche Bank.
He will receive the award at a ceremony at Guildhall in London.
If any Cass alumni are on the lookout for a new business opportunity, Oscar is now seeking importers in Western Europe and North America for his product.
