Dr Muhtar Kent meets Cass Coca-Cola Foundation Scholars
Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company shared his tips for success
Eight Cass undergraduate students were delighted to meet and put their questions to Dr Muhtar Kent recently.
The Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company visited Cass's new executive premises at 200 Aldersgate and met with the group.
The students are the recipients of the first Coca-Cola Foundation scholarships at Cass.
They are studying subjects ranging from Actuarial Science to Banking & International Finance.
Dr Kent, a Cass MBA alumnus, was asked how he had achieved his success. He joked: "Studying at Cass was one of the defining moments!"
He went on to explain how he joined The Coca-Cola Company in 1978 working on the trucks that delivered bottles of Coca-Cola to shops saying: "I never expected to become Chairman and CEO."
He has now worked for The Coca-Cola Company for 36 years and is running a firm which has 500 brands and 3000 products and sells 1.9 billion servings every day.
He continued: "I never really thought about getting to the top" and advised the students to "have fun and do the best you can with the responsibility you're given" at every stage of their careers.
Talking about career trajectories he said: "Careers are never a straight path. There are zigs and zags and they make you stronger and better. As long as over time it goes up and you keep growing."
