Threadneedle launches £12,000 scholarship and internship award
Cass MSc students challenged to enter essay competition by top global investment manager
Leading global investment manager, Threadneedle Investments, has announced a £12,000 scholarship and internship award for Cass students.
The firm is challenging MSc students to enter an essay competition to win £12,000 towards their tuition fees and an internship at the firm's offices in London and Singapore.
The Threadneedle Investment Award 2013, which the firm is running for the second time in partnership with Cass, is open to students currently enrolled on the School's MSc Investment Management and MSc Finance.
Campbell Fleming, Threadneedle's Head of Distribution commented: "We're delighted to support tomorrow's leading investors with this award. As an organisation we value idea generation and original thinking, and the Award seeks to encourage bright people with an interest in investing at the very start of their careers."
"In today's increasingly challenging investment markets, we believe investors need to out-think in order to out-perform. By partnering with Cass and SMU we are bringing together organisations that are leaders in investment thinking. Our well-established investment philosophy, based on collaboration, exchange of ideas and active debate has been fundamental to achieving Threadneedle's strong track record of out-performance for our clients. Now in its second year, the Threadneedle Investment Award, and our partnership with Cass, marks our commitment to this philosophy."
Richard Gillingwater, Dean of Cass Business School said: "'The Threadneedle award is a wonderful example of business and education working together for mutual benefit. The award combines both generous financial support and valuable work experience. We are delighted to be working with one of the City's most highly-regarded investment management firms to help talented Cass students launch their finance careers."
This is the second year Threadneedle has offered the Investment Award. In September 2011 German student Caroline Duong, who studied the MSc Investment Management at Cass, won a £20,000 scholarship for her essay on the debt crisis in Europe and the investment implications of a Eurozone break-up. Following completion of her internship, Caroline joined Threadneedle on a permanent basis as an analyst in the firm's award-winning European Equities team.
