If not Dilnot, what?
Professor Les Mayhew presents to seminar at the House of Lords
Cass Professor Les Mayhew presented his proposals for the future funding of social care, based on a public private partnership and a simplification to the system for state support, at a seminar at the House of Lords last week. The seminar, chaired by Lord Lipsey, was hosted in response to a challenge laid out by the economist Andrew Dilnot in his report on the future funding of adult social care.
Dilnot's report concluded greater public investment was the solution to adult social care, but within the findings he impeached other healthcare professionals to present alternatives.
Lord Warner, a member of the Commission on Funding of Care and Support (the organisation who assigned Dilnot), also attended the seminar and responded to the four alternatives presented on the day.
Professor Mayhew said, "This was a good opportunity to take stock of where the proposals are and to judge the responses from other experts in the field."
The following experts presented their ideas: Professor Les Mayhew - Cass Business School Professor; Julien Forder - Deputy Director, Personal Social Services Research Unit, (PSSRU); James Lloyd - Director, Strategic Society Centre; Steve Groves, FIA - CEO, Partnership.
