Cass professor invited to join JETCO
The initiative aims to strengthen economic ties between the UK and India
Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management, Mohan Sodhi has been invited to join the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO), a government led initiative between India and the UK. Its aim is to enhance bilateral ties between both countries.
India and the UK had reconstituted and reorganised the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) in 2011. It focussed its time plan on 2011 projects in the areas of innovation and investment, education and skills development, logistics, advanced manufacturing and engineering.
Professor Sodhi said: "I am absolutely delighted to be in the unique position to be able to represent and interact with manufacturers in both countries. With my supply chain background, I might be useful for logistics as well and seeing opportunities of mutual benefit to both countries."
The 8th JETCO meeting led by Mr Anand Sharma, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Textiles was recently concluded in April 2012 in London.
Professor Modhi will attend the next meeting in August, held in New Delhi, India, where he will represent manufacturing for both the UK and India.
JETCO, now in its 9th year has witnessed several multi faceted Indo-UK industrial relations and has four Joint Working Groups (JWG) on Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, Innovation, Skill Development and Logistics under its support.
