Cass holds Hackney House event for Tech City businesses
East London's creative talents mingle at Olympic networking venue
Tech City businesses turned out in force for a networking event held by Cass Business School and City University London at Hackney House.
At the Digital Shoreditch Creative Day Cass showcased its research expertise to digital and tech businesses from the district's thriving creative hub and beyond.
Hackney House, a pop-up space in Hackney's hip Shoreditch area, has been launched to provide a networking venue for international businesses, investors and media during the Olympics. The venue also houses the UK Government's Trade and Investment Tech City Suite showcasing East London's tech and digital sector.
City University London is the sole education sponsor of the venue and, together with Cass, is running a series of thought leadership seminars and events to provoke discussion around research, education and business support.
Speaking at the event, Professor Steve Haberman said Cass was a natural partner for Tech City businesses given its areas of academic strength and proximity to the district.
He added: "Our academic expertise and reputation for delivering leading edge, practically applied and independent research, delivers a powerful competitive advantage to businesses."
Dr Sue O'Hare, Director of the Enterprise Office at City University, said: "We look forward to supporting local and national business and showcasing City's strengths on a global stage throughout this very unique summer."
Hackney House is hosting a series of other events based around themed days, including tourism, fashion, food, investment and development. It aims to show the world what Hackney and East London has to offer and to attract new investment and employment to the area.
Hackney House is a partnership between London Borough of Hackney and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).
