Cass academic receives commendation from Japanese Ambassador

Wednesday, 25 March, 2009

Dr Chizu Nakajima, Director of the Centre for Financial Regulation and Crime at Cass, has recently received a commendation from the Japanese Ambassador, HE Mr Shin Ebihara, for the contributions to the promotion of Anglo-Japanese exchange and co-operation in the legal field.  She received this commendation on behalf of the British-Japanese Law Association which she chairs.

The Ambassador’s commendation marks the 150th anniversary of the diplomatic tie between the UK and Japan.  The British Japanese Law Association is a bilateral law society, established under the auspices of the Law Society of England and Wales and it is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The Association organises seminars and other events for lawyers and those interested in law and practice of the two countries.

Responding to the commendation, Dr Nakajima said: I am delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award on behalf of the British Japanese Law Association, particularly as I have been involved in the promotion of close ties between the UK and Japan now for some thirty years.
