Cass supports burgeoning art company run by undergraduate business students

Tuesday, 30 June, 2009

Cass is supporting three Cass undergraduate Business Studies students who have begun an art leasing company, The London Art Encounter (TLAE), by displaying artwork around the School.
TLAE collaborates with art galleries in London to promote artists’ work in the corporate and private client environment by displaying artworks currently not on show in art exhibitions.  The aim of this is to create a mutually agreeable scenario for both parties involved by providing fine art to enhance the corporate working environment and whilst actively promoting London’s art scene and galleries.
Cass has recently become a client of TLAE and all of the art on display around the School and in meeting rooms has been sourced to complement the environment at the School.  Most importantly, all pieces of art on display are for sale.
TLAE is made up of co-directors Niels Berl, 22, from Germany; Gilles Goy, 22,  and David Pinguelo, 21, both from Luxembourg.  Whilst the trio have always had individual entrepreneurial drives to have their own company it wasn’t until the third term of studying at Cass that they felt the time was right to apply the theoretical knowledge they had learned to turn their concept into a tangible reality.
None of them have a background in the arts but having valued the creativity inside this sector they found it very tempting to combine the two contrasting worlds of business and art through this venture.
Gilles Goy said: "Our essential aim is create a win-win situation for both businesses and the London art scene. Of course, living on the doorstep to the artists' quarter Shoreditch has helped us to gather our first vital contacts. But most importantly, it was the effective teamwork with David and Niels that led to the success of this venture."
