Lord Mayor of the City of London addresses students in Dubai

Monday, 16 February, 2009

The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Ian Luder, recently visited Dubai where he spoke with Cass Business School Executive MBA students about the growing role of Islamic Finance in the Western banking world.

As head of the City of London Corporation, which provides business and local government services to the City, the Lord Mayor of London's principal role today is ambassador for all UK-based financial and professional services.  It is an elected role for one year and the position is unpaid and apolitical.  The Lord Mayor is also Chancellor of City University.

Cass Business School has offered a Dubai-based Executive MBA (EMBA) programme since 2007 in partnership with the DIFC Centre of Excellence and classes are held at the latter's new state of the art building.

Stefan Szymanski, Associate Dean of MBA Programmes at Cass, said: We are proud to have the Lord Mayor as Chancellor of the University and it is an honour to have him address our students in Dubai.  These are challenging times for the financial services industry and I'm sure our students have found the Lord Mayor's insights to be very valuable.
