Alderman Ian Luder, The Lord Mayor of the City of London and Chancellor of City University, was guest of honour at an alumni reception in Istanbul last week.  The event, at the Ceylan InterContienental Hotel, drew 80 Alumni from all over Turkey.

The Lord Mayor and Alumni were joined by dignitaries including: His Excellency Nick Baird, British Ambassador to Turkey and David Lammy MP, Minister of State for Higher Education and Intellectual Property.

The event comes at a busy time for the alumni relations team who have 17 reunions planned globally in the next three months. Paola Barbarino, Director of Development and External Relations at Cass says, I was delighted to see so many of our Turkish alumni at the event. Our community in Turkey is growing and buzzing with activity. The Turkey hub is part of our network of 28,000 alumni in 143 countries, a network which has been growing stronger in the past 4 years thanks also to the support of past and present Lord Mayors.

The Lord Mayor closed his keynote speech by explaining the important role the Alumni community plays Both Cass and City alumni have done so well all over the world, it is with pride that I look at the University and School and the amazing amount of talent it has generated. You are ambassadors for the City no matter where your lives and careers take you. Your success reflects well on all of us.

The presentations were followed by networking and dinner.
