Apprenticeship Levy clarity paves way for new degrees at Cass

Cass launches two new degrees in response to changes to the Senior Leader Master’s Degree Apprenticeship.

Cass Business School is strengthening its position as a leader in the executive education sector by launching two new executive-level apprenticeship levy approved programmes in the next academic year.

The programmes will allow public and private sector business to take full advantage of the Government’s recently announced changes to the Apprenticeship Levy, which organisations can now use to support employees who wish to study executive level degrees.

Executive Masters in Medical Leadership

The first of the new programmes is the Executive Masters in Medical Leadership (EMML), a unique offering in the United Kingdom.

Professor Andrew Clare, Associate Dean for Corporate Engagement, said the EMML had been specifically designed for practicing doctors.

“The aim of the programme is to develop the leadership capabilities of doctors so that they can transform healthcare systems in ways that ultimately help people live longer, healthier lives,” Professor Clare said.

“We have structured the programme so that doctors can fit it around their busy schedules and are offering it on a part-time, flexible basis.”

The core modules of the EMML programme will include: Personal Leadership Development for Experts and Professionals; Healthcare Analytics; Leading Innovation in Healthcare; Expert Leadership; and a Work-Based Leadership Impact Project.

Executive Master’s in Leadership

The second apprenticeship levy approved programme being launched by Cass in September is the Executive Master’s in Leadership, a part-time, block taught programme designed for senior leaders and managers from any industry and a variety of academic backgrounds.

“This programme will provide senior leaders and managers with an academically rigorous and professionally relevant education that will serve their career needs through academic, personal and professional development,” Professor Clare said.

“As well as achieving a Masters Award and a Masters level Apprenticeship Award, successful candidates will also be eligible for professional accreditation from either the Chartered Management Institute or the Institute of Leadership and Management.”

Core Modules of the MA Leadership will cover: Financial and Economic Theory; Organisational Behaviour; Strategic Leadership; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Corporate Governance; and Social Responsibility.

Applications for both the EMML and the Executive Master’s in Leadership are now open and can be studied using Apprenticeship Levy funding..
