Professor Costas Grammenos honoured by the University of the Aegean
Global authority on shipping, trade and finance presented with Honorary Doctorate
Professor Costas Grammenos CBE DSc has been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate by the Department of Shipping and Business Services of the University of the Aegean at a ceremony to mark its 20th Anniversary.
It is an important honour for Professor Grammenos, the founder and Chairman of the Centre for Shipping Trade and Finance at Cass Business School, who was described by Lloyd’s List as a “leading global authority on shipping, trade and finance”.
Professor Grammenos said he was humbled to receive the award.
“Universities should be beacons of excellence, meritocracy and outward looking in their work and these are the principles that our Centre, School and University have followed over the years. I believe that the University of the Aegean follows these too and I am honoured to receive this award from such a prestigious institution in my home country of Greece.”

Professor Paolo Volpin, Interim Dean, Cass Business School said the award was a testament to Professor Grammenos’ standing in the international shipping community.

About the Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance
The Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance was established by Professor Grammenos in 1983 and renamed in his honour in April 2007.
It pioneers postgraduate studies in Shipping, Trade and Finance and Energy, Trade and Finance and offers the first specialist MSc degrees in these disciplines. Through its research, its unique blend of theory and practice in teaching and its creation of international dialogue, the Centre has gained international recognition among industry leaders, policy-makers, government and academics.
