Centre for Charity Effectiveness supports the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists
Global Donors Forum held at the British Museum
The Centre for Charity Effectiveness (CCE) at Cass Business School was pleased to support the recent Global Donors Forum (GDF) on 10th – 12th September at the British Museum.
The GDF is the biennial gathering of the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists, bringing together global philanthropists, grant makers, social investors, government and business leaders to offer constructive responses to pressing global challenges.
The theme of the eighth GDF was Building Resilient Ecosystems: Philanthropy’s Response to Inequalities and Societal Tensions. Forum delegates were also welcomed to an evening reception at the House of Lords, hosted by Baroness Barker.
Several academics from CCE presented at plenary sessions including Professor Paul Palmer, Forum Chair; Alex Skailes, CCE Director; Visiting Professor Diana Leat; Professor Jenny Harrow, Professor of Voluntary Sector Management; Professor Cathy Pharoah, Director, Centre for Charitable Giving and Philanthropy; Dr Peter Grant, Senior Fellow, and Mark Salway, Director of Sustainable Finance.
Alex Skailes, Director, Centre for Charity Effectiveness said:
“This was an energised and timely dialogue on how best to take a new era of Muslim philanthropy forward. Collaborative working is so important, sharing the learning around successes and equally around what doesn’t work as effectively.”

“At a time when the world seems to have become a more hostile place for the disadvantaged it was uplifting to hear so many examples of innovative projects and practices taking place to overcome inequalities and challenge bad behaviour.”
