How can creative ideas be brought in from the edge to transform how we live and work?

She said, “Innovation requires creativity to first come up with new and useful ideas. Those ideas are transformed into innovations through design. Then through technological innovation it here is a constant interplay between the capablities of technology and the ideas from the artists."

The plenary session focused on breaking down the traditional silos between the arts and STEM subjects, and also between the arts and policy-making in order to unleash real creativity and innovation – not only for industry and business but for society at large.

The session gathered together inspirational examples from industry, education and academia, followed by an open discussion to discover what more can be done to benefit from this exciting nexus and to stimulate it further.

Her talk, ‘Innovation, Creativity and the Arts: Taking the MICL’ can be seen in full here (from 37:00 - 42:45).
