Threadneedle announces international scholarship winners

Cass MSc student wins £12,000 scholarship and international internship

Cass MSc student Jean Liu has won the 2013 Threadneedle Investment Award. She will receive £12,000 towards her studies and an international internship working for leading asset manager, Threadneedle, in London and Singapore.

The annual award, judged by an essay competition, is open to Cass students on the MSc Investment Management and MSc Finance courses. This year also saw Threadneedle extend the award to students at Singapore Management University.

Cass's Jean Liu picked up the prize for her essay on the impact of the ECB's Outright Market Transaction programme on the solvency of Eurozone governments and asset prices.

Commenting on the award, Jean Liu said: "The scholarship will provide an exceptional platform for me to launch my career.  The professional and financial support together with the industry exposure will help me to realise my ambitions of a future in investment management."

Campbell Fleming, Threadneedle's Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are keen to nurture global talent and our partnership with Cass and SMU brings together three organisations that are global leaders in investment thinking."

Cass Dean, Professor Steven Haberman, said: "Our close links with respected global companies, such as Threadneedle, allow us to understand and serve the intellectual needs of business and help Cass students launch their careers."

The Threadneedle Investment Award is offered via the Threadneedle Foundation; through which Threadneedle builds partnerships that create a positive social impact.
