Remembering 2012

Senior Fellow Peter Grant looks retrospectively at the Olympics and The Diamond Jubilee and considers the economic, social and long-term impact on the UK

2012 has been a very successful year for the UK. Two major events took place; the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

Both of these events were a success, drawing in tourists from across the world, instilling a sense of pride and patriotism in London and across all of the UK.

However, there were those skeptical about the costs of these events and the reality of any long term benefits, especially when the price of the London 2012 games came in at £8.92 billion.

So have there been any real benefits? In this week's episode of Cass Talks, Senior Fellow Peter Grant looks back at 2012 and the economic, social and long-term impact on the UK.
