Employee engagement is vital for any successful business and particularly important during tough economic times. New Cass research suggests there are different types of employee engagement. Behavioural' engagement - being proactive - is beneficial from a performance perspective whereas 'state' engagement - feeling enthusiastic about your job and the company - produces a pleasant environment and boosts retention. In this week's Cass Talks, author of the research, Professor Veronica Hope-Hailey, argues businesses need to foster different types of employee engagement depending on what they want to achieve.
