City Actuarial Society wins 'Most Improved Society' Award

Society's achievements recognised by The Students' Union

City Actuarial Society 2011/2012 have won the 'Most Improved Society' Award at City University's annual Students' Union Awards.

The event took place on 5 April 2012 at Northampton Square, City University. It highlighted and celebrated the achievements of current students who have enhanced the student community and who have contributed to improving the student experience at City University.

Societies were required to provide a supporting statement of why they deserved to win the award. In this, the City Actuarial Society pointed to key areas which they have excelled in. This included creating a website for the society, directing and filming a publicity video and organising regular events for its members. One of the events included guest speaker Professor lain Allan, former Strategy Director from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

A spokesperson for City Actuarial Society Committee 2011/2012 said: "We are honoured to have received this award. The nominees are of a high standard and we are grateful for the recognition we have received for our work. We would like to thank the Faculty of Actuarial Science and Insurance at Cass Business School for their continuous support and guidance. This award could not have been achieved without the inspiration and support we have received from our members. We have a wonderful actuarial community at City University."

Head of Faculty of Actuarial Science and Insurance, Dr Ben Rickayzen said: "Many congratulations to City Actuarial Society on winning the award. They have been truly excellent this year - easily the best actuarial society that the University has had in my 18 years here. I definitely think that the society is worthy of the award of Most Improved Society."
