Cass Actuarial students to receive prizes from GAAPS

£1,000 will be awarded to the best MSc Actuarial Science and MSc Actuarial Management students

GAAPS, a leading actuarial recruitment consultancy will award £500 prizes to two Cass actuarial students for their achievements during the academic year.

Prizes of £500 will go to the best MSc Actuarial Science and the best MSc Actuarial Management students of the year.

This is the first time that there have been prizes on offer for students on Cass's MSc Actuarial programme and they will now be awarded annually.

Cass alumnus, Dr. Geraldine Kaye, who founded GAAPS, initiated the prize scheme with the Cass Actuarial faculty. The idea of the prize coincides with the introduction of The Haberman Campaign, a fundraising campaign launched last year in Professor Steven Haberman's name to support actuarial education around the world.

Dr. Kaye said: "I am happy with the funding to be associated with The Haberman Campaign. As there is no dedicated funding for scholarships for postgraduate students wishing to study actuarial science at Cass Business School, I'm honoured to be able to provide prizes to the best actuarial MSc students at Cass. During my time there studying for my PhD, I remember thinking it was a shame that actuaries didn't have a prize for top students. Thus, GAAPS Specialist Worldwide Recruitment Group is delighted to support financially the two top students of 2012."

Head of the Faculty of Actuarial Science and Insurance, Dr. Ben Rickayzen said: "It is wonderful to have these prizes being introduced at the same time as the Haberman Campaign is running. We are very pleased to announce this annual prize to be given to our best performing MSc Actuarial Science and MSc Actuarial Management students."

The annual prize will start from summer 2012.
