M&A Research Centre wins acclaim from top education watchdog

Cass research centre praised by AACSB

Cass's Mergers & Acquisitions Research Centre (MARC) has been singled out for praise by one of the world's leading education standards bodies.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Business Schools (AACSB), which accredits business schools worldwide, has published a special report showcasing the centre's unique makeup and activities.

The centre, which was launched in 2007, is the first of its kind at a major business school to pursue leading-edge research into the global mergers and acquisitions industry.

It is sponsored by top City firms including Credit Suisse, Ernst & Young and the Financial Times' Mergermarket Group.

Director of MARC, Professor Scott Moeller, said: "We're delighted the AACSB has picked out MARC as a unique aspect of Cass to showcase to their members worldwide.

"We have developed the centre so it can analyse the fast-paced world of mergers and acquisitions while remaining true to the rigor necessary for academic research.

"By combining the expertise of our M&A City sponsors, together with the input of academics at Cass and at other business schools, we aim to produce cutting-edge research that is timely and relevant for those in the M&A industry.

"From deal origination and closing to financing and integration, the centre researches the latest emerging topics which matter in the boardrooms of companies worldwide."

Among the recent research published by MARC includes the M&A Maturity Index, which categorises the maturity of the M&A environment in 175 countries and territories based on regulatory, economic, financial, political, technological and socio-cultural factors.

Cass is one of only a handful of business schools in the world to hold the 'triple crown' accreditation from the AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.
