Cass to launch new MSc in Corporate Finance
Postgraduate course set to begin in September 2012
Cass is set to launch a new Masters in Corporate Finance course. Students will be able to take the specialist one-year postgraduate degree from September 2012.
The full-time programme will give students an understanding of the wide range of corporate finance functions and corporate transactions businesses face and is targeted at those who want to work in fields such as investment banking, venture capital or private equity.
Architect of the course, Professor of Asset Management, Andrew Clare, said: "We have developed the new Masters in Corporate Finance to address the needs of City recruiters and the growing demand from students who want to specialise in this function.
"This course will reflect the latest knowledge and practices in the corporate finance world and will prepare students for the real-life challenges they can expect to face in their careers."
Cass already offers a Masters in Finance which will continue to run alongside the new Masters in Corporate Finance. The Masters in Finance is a broad-based programme while the Masters in Corporate Finance is aimed at students with more focussed career aims in mind.
"The course is highly-focussed and designed for students with clear career aspirations," explained Professor Clare. "This could include working in private equity, venture capital or the corporate finance functions of an investment bank, such as M&A, restructuring, analysis and activity or security insurance."
Cass MSc Programmes Director, Susan Roth, said: "This exciting, new course joins our specialised portfolio of highly ranked and accredited finance courses. Students who study with us enter the workforce with expertise in every aspect of financial services."
Students will cover modules in Theory of Finance, Corporate Finance and Valuation, Statistics in Finance and Financial Reporting.
They will also study Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity, Corporate Finance and Restructuring, Corporate Risk Management, Financial Statement Analysis and Research Project Management Skills.
Recent Cass graduates of the Masters in Finance, which is recognised by the CFA Institute, have gone onto work at City firms including Bank of New York Mellon, HSBC, Credit Suisse and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
A series of information sessions is being held for prospective students to find out more about all of Cass's MSc in Finance programmes.
Senior Lecturer in Investment Management, Dr Natasa Todorovich, will be giving a presentation at Cass on 16 November at 18.30 while an online presentation will also be delivered by Professor Andrew Clare on 17 November at 14.00.
