Cass alumnus is Growing Business Awards’ Entrepreneur of the Year
Great night for Wolf & Badger
Cass Business School is pleased to announce alumnus George Graham, founder of Wolf & Badger, won Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Growing Business Awards on November 14.
George, who is 26 years old, graduated with an MSc in Real Estate from Cass.
Wolf & Badger is an innovative retail concept in Notting Hill promoting, supporting and retailing emerging fashion and design brands.
The unique lifestyle boutique provides a platform to showcase the best design talent from the UK and beyond, spanning fashion, accessories, jewellery and homeware.
For independent designers, it is becoming increasingly difficult to secure affordable and prominent retail space. Wolf & Badger is offering a sustainable solution to this problem and presents a unique platform for labels to be seen by shoppers, the media, trade buyers and industry experts.
The company works with the best new-generation and established designers to showcase their products in a prime high-street location, offering a full service that removes all the challenges of setting-up and running a retail business. All aspects of retailing such as staffing, sales, insurance, security and stock management are included in a simple licence fee which allows member designers to focus on creating design-led marketable products.
Wolf & Badger also offers its member designers expert advice and support as well as flexible contract terms, web presence, and marketing & PR assistance.
Despite a limited launch budget, the company's innovative business model and creative retail offer has made waves in the industry. Wolf & Badger has been named among Britain's best boutiques by Vogue and listed as one of the best shops in London by both Time Out and The Times.
The business was also nominated by Drapers as a Best New Business of the Year 2010 and selected by Walpole, the luxury industry trade body, as one of their prestigious Brands of Tomorrow 2010.
Wolf & Badger was nominated for the Growing Business Award by the Peter Cullum Centre for Entrepreneurship at Cass, which also runs the £10m Cass Entrepreneurship Fund.
George comments: "Receiving this award is a real boost for Wolf & Badger. We are a young team that work tirelessly to support independent fashion and design in the UK, and to receive recognition of that fact is extremely rewarding. As a relative newcomer to the business world it is edifying to be recognised in this way."
UnRuly Media, also nominated by Cass, won the Digital Innovator of the Year Award. The company is one of the world's leading exponents of social video advertising and owns and operates the Viral Video Chart. Co-founder and company COO Sarah Wood guest lectures at Cass. The award was presented by Gerard Burke, founder and Managing Director of Your Business Your Future and Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at Cass.
