Yb on your own in the city?

Cass alumni launch new social network to link students and professionals.

The days of eating alone in a restaurant while abroad could be over thanks to Adam Thurston and Lachlan Larkins, former undergraduate students at Cass Business School.

Ybsolo is a new social networking website aimed at linking like-minded individuals, be they travellers exploring the world or professionals away on business. The idea is to create your own profile and then, while abroad, log on and search for fellow travellers looking to share an activity, for instance a meal, drink and so on.

"The potential for Ybsolo is staggering", says Adam. "Not only can business professionals connect, but students who are on placements or merely travelling have a portal to meet with peers from home and abroad".

The website is the brainchild of the Cass graduates who met while studying. They studied the BSc in Investment and Financial Risk Management and cite the positive atmosphere at Cass as influential in nurturing their entrepreneurial flair.

"The ethos at Cass of personal development gave us the belief to go ahead with this and other ventures", says Adam. "The University gave us help and guidance with our ideas and encouraged us to pursue them."

Launched in April 2011, the site has users across three continents and continues to grow. Adam and Lachlan have been working with Startup Britain to raise awareness of the service and develop potential media partners. The founders hope that one day it will become the ultimate travelling companion.
