NHS leadership: On the critical list

Visiting Professor Chris Roebuck on curing ailing leadership at the NHS

With the NHS facing intense financial pressures and its most radical reforms for decades, the need for effective leadership is now more vital than ever. In this week's Cass Talks, Visiting Professor of Transformational Leadership, Chris Roebuck, talks to full-time MBA student, Yo Takatsuki, about the need for leadership reform across the NHS and the lessons it can learn from the private sector.

Drawing on his recent contribution to the King's Fund Commission report on the future of the NHS, Visiting Professor Roebuck argues there are simple measures the health service can take to improve its performance and patient care - some of which cost nothing. "Given the current challenges in terms of rising demand, falling resources and reorganisation, the NHS desperately needs good practical leadership at all levels, and it needs it now," he said.

Cass Talks interviews are published every Thursday and are a chance to hear Cass faculty give their perspective on current business and finance news stories. To listen, watch and download Cass Talks, and to see previous interviews, click here.
