Threadneedle Investment Award launched in partnership with Cass

Students from three regions compete for £20,000 scholarship

As a new corporate partner of Cass Business School, international asset management company Threadneedle has issued a challenge to students to address economic dilemmas faced around the world. The Threadneedle Investment Award will provide a scholarship worth more than £20,000 to the winning entry from three regional finalists.

The Threadneedle Investment Award is a competition for students applying for a place on the MSc Investment Management at Cass. Students from Europe, the Middle East & Africa, and Asia Pacific are invited to write an essay addressing a specific economic question relevant to their region, and to identify opportunities for the investment management industry in relation to it.

A finalist will be chosen from each of the three regions and invited to London for the final in July, where they will be interviewed by a panel of judges from Threadneedle and Cass. The winner will have their tuition fees for the one year MSc course paid for by Threadneedle. They will also be offered an internship at Threadneedle, which will form part of the course. The two runners up will be awarded £5,000 each towards their tuition fees.

Campbell Fleming, Threadneedle's Head of Distribution commented: "This award chimes perfectly with our philosophy at Threadneedle. We put great store in idea generation, and what could be fresher than the ideas of bright people with an interest in investing at the very start of their careers? This education Award sits alongside our support of the arts, through the very successful Threadneedle Prize.

"Our partnership with Cass brings together two organisations that are leaders in investment thinking. Threadneedle's well-established investment philosophy is based on a collaborative approach of active debate and sharing of ideas, and this has been fundamental to achieving sustained out-performance for our clients. The Threadneedle Investment Award and our partnership with Cass mark our commitment to this philosophy."

Richard Gillingwater, Dean of Cass said: "'This award from Threadneedle is a great example of business and education working together for mutual benefit. The support that the award offers is not only financial; as well as the payment of fees Threadneedle is offering work experience and career opportunities. From a world class player such as Threadneedle, this is a unique and invaluable opportunity for a budding investment manager."
