Group Overview

The group is a small but strong international team of seven faculty members, and a number of research associates and PhD students. The group’s work encompasses three main application domains- supply chain, healthcare delivery, and energy markets- and draws on disciplines of economics, operational research, statistics, psychology and sociology as well as foundations of operations management. Our methods include both empirical and analytical approaches, and distinctive work has been carried out on supply chain risk, sustainability and partnership, as well as integration of human resources management with operations management.

The publications include articles in: Journal of Operations Management, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, Neural Networks, European Journal of Operational Research, Human Relations, International Journal of Forecasting, International Journal of HRM, International Journal of Operations and Production Management and International Journal of Production Economics. In 2017, for the second year in a row, the group has been ranked in the top 100 globally (2017 SCM Journal List^TM) for research in Operations & Supply Chain Management, and within the top 50 for empirical research.

The Group collaborates with academics and practitioners in Europe, the Americas and Asia. Its research is interdisciplinary and links are established with other researchers in the UK, including at Cass. At present industrial collaborations are mainly within the chemicals, NHS hospitals, FMCG, financial, energy, manufacturing, and wholesale-retail sectors.

The group runs an MSc programme in Global Supply Chain Management, and is involved in teaching core modules across a wide range of programmes, including the undergraduate programmes in Management and Business Studies, as well as the full time and executive MBA. The group teaches both core and elective courses on the PhD programme.
