For more than ten years Michael Etter has been working as a scholar and practitioner in the area of management, new information and communication technologies (ICT), and CSR. With a Master in Communication Sciences and a Ph.D. in Organization Studies and Cultural Theories, he has an interdisciplinary background that provides him with a multifaceted lens on current phenomena of the digital world. Michael Etter is currently working as a Research Fellow at the ETHOS Center at Cass Business School of the City University London, where he studies the creation of corporate legitimacy in the digital society.
Michael Etter’s research interest lies in the challenges that organizations face in a networked and digitalized communication environment. He is particularly interested in the processes of reputation and legitimacy formation and how organizations can strategically leverage new media technologies to participate in these processes. The aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility is therewith prevalent in his academic work that has been published in leading communication and management journals, such as Acdemy of Management Review, Journal of Management Studies, Management Communication Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, and Corporate Communication: An International Journal.
