£8m Endowment Campaign: The Costas Grammenos Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance

In April 2007 Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) launched an ambitious £8m fundraising campaign to secure a permanent and independent future for the Costas Grammenos Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass).

The three main goals of this campaign have been to ensure that the Grammenos Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance continues to:

  • Enable pioneering and world-class research
  • Develop and reward exceptionally talented students
  • Nurture and attracts brilliant academics.

The Centre has now been established for over 30 years and is recognised as a world renowned Centre of Excellence with an outstanding community of over 3,500 alumni pursuing careers in a wide range of industries around the globe.

In celebration of this special anniversary Professor Grammenos has organised successful and high profile conferences in key shipping centres including Athens and Hamburg with dates to be scheduled for similar events in the coming months in Oslo, Istanbul, Limassol, Singapore and London.

These conferences are open to practitioners, alumni, current students, friends and supporters Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) where key note speakers including alumni, senior practitioners, academics and high ranking government representatives present on current themes and issues followed by discussions and debates and networking opportunities.

In tribute to Professor Costas Grammenos, and the leadership and commitment he has invested in establishing this world renowned Centre over the last 30 plus years, we are appealing to alumni and friends of Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) and the Grammenos Centre to donate to the Grammenos Endowment Fund.

Your support will help us to achieve the original £8 million target and ensure that the Centre remains a global Centre of Excellence for teaching, learning and research in shipping, trade and finance.

"Many successful businessmen and women in shipping, logistics and energy trade and finance have studied with Professor Costas Grammenos. His inspirational teaching and pioneering research have brought the rigour of academic debate to the dynamic industry of shipping and maritime economics.

It is with tremendous pride that we launch our campaign to raise £8 million to permanently endow his great Centre - acknowledged as the best in the world. Those future students too young to learn from him will forever be proud to say that they studied at The Costas Grammenos International Centre for Shipping, Trade and Finance."
