During the course of the last 35 years, The Centre has received generous support in the form of scholarships, prizes and bursaries from many supporters.

The Stamatia Michael Xylas (SMX) Scholarship

The Matti Michael Xylas (MMX) Scholarship was established by Mr Nick Comninos Xylas in 2021 and is given in honour of academic excellence, demonstration of financial need, and promise of continued growth. The Matti Michael Xylas (MMX) Scholarship was renamed The Stamatia Michael Xylas (SMX) in 2023 and is of the value of £28,000 to be offset against tuition fees.

The Stelios Scholarships

The Stelios Scholarship was established in 2006 by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou through the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and is given in honour of academic excellence, demonstration of financial need, and promise of continued growth.

Stelios Philanthropic Foundation provides a minimum of four scholarships to the value of £10,000 each to be offset against tuition fees. For 2023 intake, four scholarships worth £10,000 each have been confirmed.

The Clélia Haji-Ioannou Scholarships

The Clélia Haji-Ioannou Scholarship was established in 2019 by Clélia Haji-Ioannou and is given in honour of academic excellence, demonstration of financial need, and promise of continued growth. Ms Clélia Haji-Ioannou provides two scholarships to the value of £10,000 each to be offset against tuition fees.

The Navarino Scholarship

The Navarino Scholarship was established in 2023 to support the tuition fees, £28.000, of students taking the MSc Shipping, Trade and Finance.

George and Victoria Karelias Public Benefit Foundation Scholarship

Established in 2004, The Foundation considers annually applications from Greek students for studies abroad, amongst them the MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance. The selection and decision process is made directly by the Foundation.

Prizes

The Michael Baker Prize

Every year, the Best Research Methods and Professional Skills Business Plan is awarded the Michael Baker Prize, which comes with a £4,000 cash award to the winning group and £1,000 to the runners up group.

The Captain Tasos Politis Prize

Every year, since 2021, the Best Fintech Innovation project is awarded the Captain Tasos Politis Prize, which comes with a £1,000 cash award to the winning group of the FinTech: Technologies and Disruptions elective. A shipowner, innovator, serial entrepreneur and Piraeus patriarch, Captain Tasos Politis was a close friend to Bayes Business School, mentor and sponsor to a number of ambitious students in the UK, Europe and Greece.
