The Portal Trust (formerly Sir John Cass’s Foundation)

The Portal Trust has supported education in London since Sir John Cass established a school in Aldgate in 1710.

In May 2001, the Trust made a generous donation to the Business School's new building and has provided ongoing funding for various projects since then.

In April 2021 the Portal Trust extended funding for the School’s engagement project for a further three years.  Established in 2015 in conjunction with the Trust, the engagement project involves undergraduate students electing to take a module in coaching and mentoring.

Following the taught course a number then choose to work with pupils in local London schools in the second semester. Here, they use near peer mentoring techniques with pupils focused on STEM subjects and also encourage social mobility by building aspirations.
