UK and other qualifications

'A' Level

Entry requirement:

  • Actuarial Science related degrees: A (Mathematics) AA and GCSE English Language grade 4
  • Finance related degrees: AAA with GCSE Maths grade 7 and GCSE English Language grade 4
  • Business related degrees: AAAwith GCSE Maths grade 6 and GCSE English Language grade 4

Welsh Baccalaureate

Entry requirement:

  • Finance related degrees: Pass the Core of the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate plus grades AA at A Level, GCSE maths grade A and GCSE English grade C.
  • Actuarial Science related degrees: Pass the Core of the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate plus grades AA at A Level (A in Maths) and GCSE English grade C.
  • Business related degrees: Pass the Core of the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate plus grades AA at A Level, GCSE maths grade A and GCSE English grade C.

International Baccalaureate

Entry requirement:

  • Actuarial Science: 35 points with a minimum of 6 in Higher level Mathematics and HL 4 or SL 5 in English
  • All other degrees: 35 points with HL 4 or SL 5 in English and Mathematics.

BTEC

Qualification: BTEC Level 3 (18 unit) Diploma/Extended Diploma (Business related subjects)

Entry requirement:

  • Actuarial Science related degrees: DDD plus A Level Maths grade A and GCSE English Language grade 4
  • Finance related degrees: DDD with GCSE Maths grade 7 and GCSE English Language grade 4
  • Business related degrees: DDD with GCSE Maths grade 6 and GCSE English Language grade 4

Access

Qualification: Access to Higher Education (Business related courses)

Entry requirement:

  • Finance related degrees: Pass the Access course with 45 Level 3 credits including 30 distinctions and 15 Merits, plus GCSE Maths grade 7 and GCSE English Language grade 4
  • Actuarial Science related degrees: Pass the Access course with 45 Level 3 credits including 30 Distinctions and 15 Merits, plus A Level Maths grade A and GCSE English Language 4
  • Business related degrees: Pass the Access course with 45 Level 3 credits including 30 Distinctions and 15 merits, plus GCSE Maths grade 6 and GCSE English Language grade 4

IFS Diploma in Financial Studies

Entry requirement:

All other degrees (except BSc Actuarial Science): Accepted as an alternative to one GCE A Level subject.

A typical offer would be grade A in the IFS Diploma, plus AA at A Level

Cambridge International Level 3 Pre - U Certificate

Entry requirement:

  • Finance related degrees: D3, D3, D3, with GCSE Maths grade 7 and GCSE English Language grade 4
  • Actuarial Science related degrees: D3, D3, D3 including Maths, plus GCSE English Language 4
  • Business related degrees: D3, D3, D3, plus GCSE Maths grade 6 and GCSE English Language grade 4

European Baccalaureate

Entry requirement:

  • Finance related degrees: 80% Overall with 85% in Maths and an English language qualification
  • Actuarial Science related degrees: 80% Overall with 85% in Maths and an English language qualification
  • Business related degrees: 80% Overall with 80% in Maths & an English language qualification

Scottish Highers

Entry requirement:

  • Actuarial Science related degrees: Actuarial related degrees – AA at Advanced Higher (must include Maths) plus AAB at Higher (must include English at either level)
  • Other degrees: AA at Advanced Higher plus AAB at Higher (must include Maths grade A if taken at Higher and not Advanced level, and English at either level)
