BSc Actuarial Science, Year 3
Pakistan
Since I knew I wanted to study in an institution which is not only academically challenging but also helps me to develop as a professional, Cass was an obvious choice. Cass's excellent academic reputation and long well established network within the actuarial industry, fits the purpose. Student and faculty diversification combined with central London location offered unparallel networking opportunities, making my university choice much easier.
Cass aims to put together the best academic facilities where leading industry practitioners share their lifelong professional experiences through lectures and where logical reasoning is the means of educating students. Thus it is an institution where effort is tailored to help you develop as an industry expert.
The BSc in Actuarial Science has provided me with great technical knowledge ranging from IT skills to complex financial modelling techniques, in addition to professional skills and the ability to work well within a team on a variety of projects.
Studying BSc Actuarial Science has provided me with a great combination of technical skills, ranging from IT skills to complex financial modelling techniques, and professional skills revolving around team work and managing projects. At Cass, we are encouraged to put our theoretical concepts into practice which led me to secure a yearlong placement with HSBC Life. During my placement, I was able to apply the theoretical concepts learnt at Cass to make a real difference at work and further the knowledge acquired at work, and it proved to be very helpful in my final year.
Aside from learning, to continue my passion of developing innovative business solutions, I have also been working as City Incubator Research Assistant. I also initiated 'Skewed' actuarial magazine in association with postgraduate students at Cass. I am also an active member of the Pakistani Society at City University.
