Anna Belven
BSc Business Studies, Year 1
Sweden
I choose Cass because of its high academic ranking and recognition. Also the interesting mix of courses on offer and varied selection of electives to tailor my degree, and that you can choose to specialise in finance or marketing in the second year of the course.
But my impression of the atmosphere at the university, partly made up from word-of-mouth recommendations I received, is what really made me come around to apply Cass rather than another well-recognised business school. From what I understood, Cass appeared to offer high academic teaching, good student support and a friendly and pleasant school environment. I am glad that all my initial impressions have turned out to be accurate and I am very satisfied with my choice.
I have been impressed by how relevant and up to date each module has been, with examples from real life business case studies and what is happening within the market at present. I have a better understanding of the factors that make business operate and what causes problems and the solutions to them. The structure of the programme, and how the content of each module is relevant to others, makes learning so much easier. In my first year, not only have I acquired theoretical business knowledge, but also gained skills such as team working, study techniques, analytical thinking and planning.
Other than studying, London is an amazing place to live, a city full of opportunities. London offers a great variety of activities, such as museums, restaurants, and shopping. Cass has an incredible central location that enables you to find everything you need at your doorstep and there is always something happening on campus.
My advice to a student applying to Cass would be make the most out the great student experience, grab those opportunities, join societies and build a network, alongside your learning and studying you will have a truly amazing time.
