Tailored in-house workshops
We are able to offer all of the workshops in-house so, if you have a collection
of individuals or organisations that could benefit from a tailored workshop
please contact us and we can create a proposal for your organisation. This may
turn out to be a more cost effective solution for you. For example, we recently
ran tailored versions of the Finance for Non Finance Managers workshop for the

This one day workshop, facilitated by Stella Smith, explores the challenges
of setting direction in organisations which involve a range of stakeholders,
interests and priorities.
The course will use frameworks from the Tools for Success guide to show how
individuals can facilitate discussions to agree organisational direction.

This course, facilitated by Atul Patel, is designed to introduce non-finance managers
to basic financial concepts and how they are applied in financial management.
Using practical work, the course will cover key elements of financial management
including an overview of effective financial management; the charity finance frame
work; financial planning and control and looking at financial performance against
set objectives

Atul Patel is the academic leader on the MSc in Voluntary
Sector Management. He is qualified in social work and has spent 18 years in
the voluntary and public sectors. His particular interests are in management
development, strategy development, managing diversity and conducting diversity
audits and advising trustees.
This course, facilitated by Fiona Ash, is designed for those who are responsible
for or oversee the people management of their organization but who have no formal
HR qualifications. It will cover some practical aspects of HR management as well
as providing an opportunity to explore – in a safe environment – common
“tricky” people management issues that senior managers often encounter.

A more informed and confident approach to people management
Fiona Ash is a recent graduate of the MSc Voluntary Sector
Management at Cass. Her earlier education includes an MA in employment law.
She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and
has extensive experience in charity management at a Director level. She now
runs her own consultancy practice, advising organisations on HR, organisational
development and charity management. She is a Trustee for a well known animal
rescue centre.
This course, facilitated by Atul Patel, is aimed at managers involved in designing,
funding or leading a fixed-term project. Using practical work, the course will
cover key areas of project management including people, processes and project
variables. It will introduce a range of project management tools and techniques
for use from concept to completion and will highlight the key factors that need
managing to make the best of a project. The course will include: Defining project
outcomes brief and scope; Project planning techniques; Risk management; Allocating
resources; The role of the project manager/leader; Developing team work; Project
monitoring and evaluation; Project completion.
